Many have focused on achieving healthy skin, especially in the last few years because of the rise of at-home skincare due to COVID.
Unfortunately, how to achieve healthy skin can sometimes be like an Easter hunt searching for that golden egg! But no worries, as we have put together some Egg-cellent tips to help you achieve a more youthful, hydrated, glowing complexion!
The Power Of Four
The approach to skincare is 4 -folds: Treat, repair, prevent, and maintain. Preventing is more manageable and less costly than trying to fix an issue in the future with cosmetic surgery. Unfortunately, many get frustrated as they get overwhelmed trying to do too much at once. STOP. The best skincare routine is the crawl, walk, run approach, and lots put too many eggs in their basket and give up quickly before starting.
So to not get overwhelmed, think of your skincare routine as consisting of four main steps
- Cleansing — Washing your face.
- Toning — Balancing and prepping the skin for other skincare products.
- Treatments- These are your anti-aging serums and creams.
- Moisturizing — Hydrating and softening the skin.
Cleanse Your Face Twice A Day
Regular cleansing is a must for healthy skin, so I suggest washing your face in the morning and before you go to bed. And for peep's sake, this doesn't include using bar soap and water unless you want to mess up your skin's PH balance, allowing for more bacteria and yeast growth, leading to skin irritations and breakouts. Properly removing makeup and other grime from your skin is a difference between healthy, glowing skin and aging, dry, acne-prone skin.
Product Suggestions For A Double Cleanse: A double cleanse involves washing your face in two steps, first by using an oil-based cleanser, followed by a cleanser.
Get started on the double cleanse with these two amazing products that I love!!
First Cleanse With A Cleansing Oil Or Face Balm like Kim True's Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm with Bilberry & Moringa Seed Extracts. This balm melts into the skin upon application and completely rids it of makeup, dirt, oil, and impurities.
Second, Use A Foaming Antioxidant Cleanser
Calm the skin and bring it life-giving a radiant, healthy glow by using an antioxidant-enriched facial cleanser, like this one from La Roche-Posay. I found this Pigmentclar Brightening Face Cleanser & Exfoliating Face Wash on accident as an Amazon suggestion.
I had the product for almost 1.5 years before even using it. Only because I was packing to bring products with me to my boyfriend's house did I even use it. Surprisingly this instantly made a difference in my skin. My skin looked brighter and smoother immediately!!!!
Make Sure To Use A Face Toner
A face toner is a must and the first product you should use after cleansing your face. By adding the right toner to your routine, you can really up to your skincare regimen, as toners are great for helping to prep your skin for better absorption of all your other skincare products.
The Best Toner: Mist Me Baby With The Cica Hydrating Toner
Hydration, Hydration, Hydration, Baby! This toner that doubles as a mist is made with a soothing formula that provides calming relief to even the most sensitive dry winter skin.
I love that this toner from Meebak is enriched with Cica. It has many other skin-loving benefits, from toning the skin, boosting collagen, aiding in cellular repair, protecting the skin from free radicals, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles!
A Moisturizer Is A Must
Keeping the skin properly moisturized is egg-sential to healthy, younger-looking skin. But what most are not familiar with is what if you are not applying it correctly or have chosen the wrong formula?
A poorly chosen product and sloppy application can lead to sagging skin, breakouts, or dry, cracked skin that can allow bacteria to enter the moisture barrier, causing inflammation, redness, and even infections.
One of my all time favorite ways to moisturize is at night with a sleeping mask, like Colleen Rothchild's intense hydrating mask.
This mask is formulated for long-lasting moisture, featuring a unique blend of Coral Grass and Micro-Algae to help improve hydration levels, while a potent tri-peptide complex helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines.
Invest In Focused Skincare Treatments
Investing in treatments is a must. Think of focused treatments as something to treat a skincare concern, for example, loss of collagen, wrinkles, dry skin, acne, etc. And the true power and strength of beauty is in the use of clean, active ingredients in your treatment serums or Anti-aging cream.
For the hoppiest skin you want to look for products that have high contents of polyphenols that possess minerals and antioxidants.
Some of my favorite serums are from Itcosmetics with their Bye, Bye line.
This serum skin care line comes with four different concentrated derma serums, so there is a serum for you depending on what you want to skincare concern you want to say, bye, bye too!
Exfoliation For Glowing Skin
Exfoliating is key to great-looking skin. Unfortunately, I have over exfoliated over the years. Hence, a mild exfoliation that delivers visible results without redness and irritation is what my mature skin needs, so I am not further damaging my moisture barrier.
Best Mild Exfoliant
Another Itcosmetics product as beauties, they never cease to amaze me with each new product I try, and their Hello Results Baby-Smooth Glycolic Acid Peel + Caring Oil is not any different.
This product is a nighttime exfoliant and is a one-of-a-kind bi-phase treatment that provides gentle exfoliation and soothing hydration in one step.
I love it as I have over exfoliated over the years. Hence, a mild exfoliation that delivers visible results without redness and irritation is what my mature skin needs, so I am not further damaging my moisture barrier.
Use Bunny Approved Skincare
Save the Easter Bunny with cruelty-free skincare! There are plenty of cruelty-free, which is different from vegan skincare brands.
Skincare Supplements For Glowing Skin
There are several ways to help your skin stay healthy and glowing. One of the easiest is to begin taking vitamin supplements like these from hush and hush.
I know you're probably wondering how supplements could help improve your skin's health. Allow me to explain quickly.
As you age, collagen and elastin— begin to break down. Making matters worse, your body doesn't produce these proteins as quickly as you grow older.
Research has shown that collagen production decreases by 1% every year after 20. So by the time you're a beauty over 40, your collagen production is only 60% of what it was when you were in your teens. WTH?!
This is where supplements come in! Skin-supportive supplements can revitalize and rejuvenate your skin by improving the health of your skin cells from the inside out!
